Artist Statement:

Field Trip Visions III is an art exhibition by four Artist/Educators.  Zanne Brunner, Judy Gohringer, Courtney Gruttadauria and Nancy Valle created abstract paintings and prints responding to a variety of personal interests, some familiar and some new.  Landscape, the human figure, symbols, pattern and natural forms provide the inspiration for this exhibit. This third collective exhibition celebrates their shared art community in the Anderson Arts Building in Rochester, NY.

Review via Sally Wood Winslow: Four local artists (and close friends) each join their singular forces of color expression to claim a new voice for the visual. Zanne Brunner has long curated these walls for local artists. Here she leads some pals on a field trip to fill the walls of the popular café. If those walls talked, you’d be hearing four abstract jazz compositions with very distinct movements woven together. By choosing to intermix their works with each other’s everywhere, there’s less soothe and more discover here. It’s an intuitive brew of landscape, figure, arrangement, and emotion. Zanne’s tectonic plates of color halt next to Courtney Gruttadauria’s ripping surfaces that pant next to Judy Gohringer’s raw landscapes that glide next to Nancy Valle’s earthy experiments. These women have given their audience a show of what support is truly made of. Here’s a unique quartet, a visual coming together as fine as any band of musicians could offer at the Little. Now the walls have a song of their own.
