The Little Cafe



Located in Rochester, New York’s artsy, energetic East End, our Little Theatre Café is located in our back theatre complex. With seating for 70, live music five nights a week, and a seasonal American cuisine menu, we’ve been a downtown destination since 1994. We provide affordable dishes, desserts, specialty drinks, and wine and beer in a comfortable, casual atmosphere. Free parking is available in our lot.

In addition, our café is a sought-after location for special events day or night! We also host special programs and collaborations. We hope you will join us soon for a pre-show dinner, an after film coffee, a glass of wine, or a satisfying dessert!

Pianist Gordon Webster is one of the most sought after musicians in the lindy hop world. His tremendous musicianship and passion, supported by his first-hand knowledge of social dancing, have inspired lindy hoppers at hundreds of dance events worldwide. Drawing on influences as diverse as Fats Waller, Count Basie, Oscar Peterson and Gene Harris, Webster serves up a smorgasbord of styles unified by one characteristic: irresistible danceability.
Naomi Nakanishi;

A multifaceted jazz pianist, Naomi Nakanishi is from Las Vegas, Nevada where her musical endeavors began as a world jazz studies major at the Las Vegas Academy of the Performing Arts. There, she had the opportunity

to perform at numerous jazz festivals such as Next Generation Monterey, Jazz Festival, Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival, Reno Jazz Festival, Las VegasJazz Invitational, Midwest Clinic, All State Jazz Band, and the national

Jazz Education Network Conference with both big band and small group.

Naomi has spent most of her summers on the West Coast at the Idyllwild Arts Jazz Workshop, the Berklee College of Music’s Five Week Summer Performance Program, and the Centrum Jazz Workshop where she worked with artists such as Jeff Clayton, Anthony Wilson, Matt Harris, Benny

She is currently working to pursue her BM in Jazz Performance at the Eastman School of Music in the studio of Gary Versace.

Jake Svendsen in a Rochester-based bandleader, jazz musician, composer/arranger and teacher. He is a recipient of DownBeat magazine’s Outstanding Performance Award and a current master’s student at the Eastman School of Music. After graduating with a Bachelors in Music from the New England Conservatory he spent much of his professional career in Seattle, Washington performing at local venues and touring the Northwest. In Rochester he performs at Sambucha, Funk N Waffles, Coffee at the Market and the George Eastman Museum.

His solo piano work features his arrangements of jazz interpretations from the American songbook and original compositions.

Jake has several years of pedagogical experience as a studio, ensemble, and classroom teacher in ear training, music theory and improvisation. He has taught private lessons and courses at Jazz Night School, music theory for undergraduate jazz majors at Eastman as a graduate student assistant, and private lessons at Aria’s School of Music. In Fall 2018 he joined the Eastman Community Music School as an instructor in jazz piano.
