You’ve heard of extreme sports; now comes extreme gardening in this PBS presentation about the growers who compete to produce the world’s biggest pumpkin for the annual Cooperstown Weigh Off. Battling inclement weather, natural disasters, animal attacks and sabotage, squash king Joe Pukos and his Cooperstown competitors demonstrate what it takes to raise 1,000-pound gourds and then transport them across New York state for the final weigh-in.
