For Fans Of: The Coen Brothers, dark comedy, people not good at crime trying to do crime, woodchippers 

The Coen Brothers’ 1996 dark comedy revolves around a botched kidnapping and the small-town police officer (Frances McDormand, who won an Oscar for the role) who investigates it. The film was nominated for seven Academy Awards, and won two (including a best original screenplay Oscar for the Coens).

Bonus points for using your best Minnesota accent for this one.
