Overly enthusiastic guitarist Dewey Finn (Jack Black) gets thrown out of his bar band and finds himself in desperate need of work. Posing as a substitute music teacher at an elite private elementary school, he exposes his students to the hard rock gods he idolizes and emulates — much to the consternation of the uptight principal (Joan Cusack). As he gets his privileged and precocious charges in touch with their inner rock ‘n’ roll animals, he imagines redemption at a local Battle of the Bands.

The Submarine Music School
(Rochester, NY) Our school philosophy is that every person, regardless of age, skill level, economic status and background, deserves quality music education and to feel the joy that playing music can bring. We believe in sharing that joy with the people around us and encouraging our students to do the same. We hire local musicians who are not just teachers but are also active in the music scene, whose passion for their own musical projects is an important part of being a great role model and musical guide. Currently accepting students for private lessons & our youth ‘Band Practice’ rock band program!
