The Jon Randall Octet is comprised of professional players who enjoy both ensemble playing and improvisation.  It consists of four wind instruments and a full rhythm section.  This may include: flute, clarinet, alto, tenor, and soprano sax, trumpet, flugelhorn, trombone, baritone, electric and acoustic guitar, electric and upright bass, piano, and drum set.  A wide variety of sounds and textures are available.  Most of the instruments are not amplified, to preserve the nuances of the sound and balance.  Most of the arrangements are by members of the ensemble, offering a fresh take on familiar tunes, as well as numerous originals in various styles.
