In an America where many families are quietly, barely getting by, Mr. Jamshid coaches an underdog team of kids on their way to compete in the world’s largest youth tournament.

BLACK CINEMA SERIES | Friday, September 9 at 7:30pm | A coming-of-age comedy-drama about three Black women living in Brooklyn. Ayoka Chenzira’s feature film explores the life of teenager Rainbow Gold (Victoria Gabrielle Platt) who is entering womanhood and navigating conversations and experiences around standards of beauty, self-image, and the rights Black women have over their bodies.

WXXI CLASSICAL PRESENTS | Wednesday, September 21 | A new opera. INTIMATE APPAREL, set in 1905 in turn of the century New York, tells the story of Esther, a lonely, single African-American woman who makes her living sewing beautiful corsets and ladies’ undergarments.
SPECIAL SCREENING | Wednesday, April 9 at 7:30pm | A feature documentary about the life and music of singer-songwriter Diane Luckey, also known as Q Lazzarus. Q sang the hit song ‘Goodbye Horses’, which appeared in the Jonathan Demme films Married to the Mob and Silence of the Lambs. There will be a Q&A with director Eva Aridjis following the screening.
SPECIAL SCREENING | Sunday, September 25 | A celebration of stop-motion animation legend Will Vinton, father of Claymation. Join us for a rare theatrical screening of the Will Vinton Studio’s only theatrical film, “The Adventures of Mark Twain” (1985) followed by the new documentary about Vinton’s studio and life, “Clay Dream” (2022). It’s a celebration of Claymation!
