Katie Haverly (WRUR’s The Route Presents) : Monday, May 18

Katie Haverly is a singer-songwriter “alt-rock polymath” who creates a joyous mesh of soulful pop, jazz, folk, and rock in her passionate live performances. Her music pierces the veil between 1960s and 70s Laurel Canyon ingenuity and modern-day indie magic, twisting and turning between Fleetwood Mac, Joni Mitchell, and The War on Drugs in equal measure. After living in such diverse locales as Colorado, Chicago, North Carolina, Albany, Tucson, and now Rochester, Katie’s music displays a wealth of passion, living and maturity. Her songs map the human heart with an understated, but undeniable intensity topped with Katie’s languid, yet fierce vocal ability and an impressive lyrical facility:

There are singers, and then there are singers – and Katie Haverly’s one of the latter, with one of those spectacularly effortless-sounding voices that reaches all over the scale and explores all manner of sound without ever coming across as forced or strident or technically perfect for technical perfection’s sake. You hear the human being when she sings, not the studio or room or microphone that makes her sound so good, as the warmth and intimacy of her voice sucks you into the place where melody is pure and singing is an expression of a soul unbound. – Metroland.

Katie has had the honor to open for artists such as Macy Gray, Loudon Wainwright III, Chris Isaak and others, and has released 9 full length albums to date. She is working on her 10th album here in Rochester and released her first single from it called “Room to Grow” which was chosen by Hannah Maier at WXXI Rochester as one of the top 10 releases of 2025.
