Gary Lamaar & Dorothea Paas
LIVE PERFORMANCE • THE LITTLE CAFE

Gary Lamaar & Dorothea Paas (WRUR’s The Route Presents) : Monday, May 11

Gary Lamaar is a rapper/producer, drummer, and increasingly uninhibited songwriter. He aims to connect with listeners by freely sharing anything a person can think, feel, or dance to. His lyrics are rooted in his own experience, a shared human experience. May his voice, echoing, guide you toward your own.

Dorothea Paas is a guitarist, vocalist and songwriter based in Toronto, ON and Rochester, NY. For over a decade, Dorothea has honed her unique, prismatic style of folk songcraft, and has lent her talents as a guitarist and vocalist to artists like Jennifer Castle, U.S. Girls, and Shabason & Krgovich. Her debut album, Anything Can’t Happen (2021), was described by Exclaim as “Joni Mitchell fronting Shellac at a coffee shop.” Paas has just released her second album, Think of Mist (2024), which was called “uncommonly beautiful” by Pitchfork and “wholly mature, fully-formed and intentional–dense but highly replayable” by Aquarium Drunkard. At her live shows, Paas instantly draws audiences in with her disarmingly earnest, occasionally comedic approach to performance, as her music opens up the space between composition and improvisation.
