As part of Hispanic Heritage Month, ¡Presente! Latin Film Series is excited to present a screening of the iconic family film “Spy Kids” at The Little Theatre on Sunday, September 29, 2024. This event is part of our ongoing Latin Film Series, designed to celebrate and highlight Latin contributions to American cinema. “Spy Kids” is the story of Carmen and Juni Cortez, siblings who discover that their parents are secretly spies, and when their parents are captured, it’s up to the kids to save them and the world!
¡Presente! Latin Film Series aims to highlight Latin filmmakers and storytellers in America, to foster a greater understanding and appreciation of Latin heritage in the context of larger American culture. Directed by Robert Rodriguez and starring Antonio Banderas, “Spy Kids” is a beloved action-adventure film that appeals to audiences of all ages and races. It was groundbreaking in its representation of Mexican Americans, and is remembered for its humor and values, making it a perfect choice for our Latin Film Series. In his review, Roger Ebert concluded, “”Spy Kids” is an intelligent, upbeat, happy movie that is not about the comedy of embarrassment, that does not have anybody rolling around in dog poop, that would rather find out what it can accomplish than what it can get away with. It’s a treasure.”
Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to secure their seats and purchase food from Munchie Empanada Truck. After the screening anyone looking to extend the fun can go to The Playhouse // Swillburger (820 S Clinton Ave) to play arcade games and receive a discount on food and drink by presenting their ticket to “Spy Kids” at the register from 5pm-7pm!
This event is presented with the support of several local organizations, including the Rochester Latino Theatre Company, IBERO, Monroe County DEI Department, Canandaigua National Bank and the Rochester Area Community Foundation.
This event is run and organized by a third party, taking place at The Little. The Little is the venue, but not the organizer or programmer for this event. Please note that Little Theatre discounts, passes, and member benefits do not apply.
