FILM SERIES
From February to July, The Little will be presenting a “mixtape” series of films celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Hip-Hop. With both narrative and documentary films, this series will highlight the music, the culture, and artists who have shaped our collective consciousness, influenced cinema and media, and ultimately changed the world.

Krush Groove – Feb. 23
50 YEARS OF HIP-HOP | Friday, February 23 at 7:30pm | Based on the inception of the Def Jam Recordings label and the challenges that artists Run-D.M.C. and Russell Simmons faced on their path to become successful. Starring Blair Underwood, Shelia E, and LL Cool J.
House Party (1990) – Mar. 22
50 YEARS OF HIP-HOP | Friday, March 22 at 7:30pm | Kid decides to go to his friend Play’s house party, but neither of them can predict what’s in store for them on what could be the wildest night of their lives.
Something from Nothing: The Art of Rap – Apr. 11
50 YEARS OF HIP-HOP | Thursday, April 11 at 7:30pm | Ice-T travels coast to coast interviewing rap performers such as Q-Tip, Common and Kanye West to pay tribute to the musical art form.
The Forty-Year-Old Version (w/ discussion) – May 22
50 YEARS OF HIP-HOP | Wednesday, May 22 at 7pm | Radha is a down-on-her-luck NY playwright, who is desperate for a breakthrough before 40. Reinventing herself as rapper RadhaMUSPrime, she vacillates between the worlds of Hip Hop and theater in order to find her true voice.

50 YEARS OF HIP-HOP | Friday, June 7 at 7:30pm | Four inner-city teenagers get caught up in the pursuit of power and happiness, which they refer to as “the juice”.
Breakin’ Double Feature – July 27
50 YEARS OF HIP-HOP | Saturday, July 27 | “Breakin'” at 3:30pm and “Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo” at 7:00pm | PLUS live DJ set from 5:00-7:00pm | Come out for the finale of our Hip-Hop anniversary series with BOTH 1984 cult classic breakdancing films!
