In this powerfully-acted adaptation of Janet Fitch’s best-selling novel, a teenage girl (Alison Lohman) enters the foster care system while her mother (Michelle Pfeiffer) serves a life sentence for murdering her boyfriend. As she moves from one troubled foster home to another, each with its own rules and lessons to be learned, she begins a journey of self discovery. Trying to forge her own identity proves difficult, however, under the coldhearted influence of her mother, in this rich, turbulent melodrama. Featuring Robin Wright, Noah Wyle and Renée Zellweger.
