Best of the Fests
Three-day “Best of the Fests” presents favorite films from High Falls, ImageOut, and Rochester Jewish film festivals at The Little April 27-29 Rochester, N.Y. – A new collaboration between three of Rochester’s largest film festivals will highlight the “best” movies to a broader film-loving audience. This mini-festival will run three nights at The Little Theatre on Wednesday through Friday, April 27, 28 and 29, with each festival showing two standout movies. The High Falls Film Festival, which celebrates women in film behind the camera and on screen, was established in 2001, the same year the JCC launched the Ames Amzalak Rochester International Jewish Film Festival, which presents the best contemporary Jewish-themed films. ImageOut was founded in 1993 and today is New York state’s largest LGBT film festival (lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender). Collectively these three festivals bring hundreds of films from around the globe to Rochester each year, to be screened for tens of thousands of audience members.
“The ‘Best of the Fests’ initiative has grown out of our mutual desire to share great films with the community and to get Rochester excited about the depth of unique cinematic experience that festivals regularly bring to town,” said Paul Allen, ImageOut’s board chairman. “Our three festivals have been working together for several years, presenting movies in each other’s line-up that highlight our overlapping missions and interests. But this ‘Best of the Fests’ really takes our collaboration to the next level, by sharing great movies that general audiences might not necessarily seek out during our regular festival times.”
Tickets are $8 general admission and $6.50 for JCC, ImageOut, and Little Theatre members. Tickets can be purchased in advance at thelittle.org or just prior to the screenings at the Little
