Rochester's film community is truly amazing -- a smart, passionate group who help make this a special place. While we love nothing more than for you to find that next magical film under our Art Deco roof with the largest possible bag of Little Popcorn, or to enjoy live music in our cafe, the safety of our guests and employees is the top priority. As a result, The Little has decided to suspend all film/music programming, and temporarily close to the public until further notice.
We continue to monitor updates and adhere to guidelines provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), as well as the state and county, regarding the COVID-19 coronavirus.
If you've purchased tickets in advance, you will be given the following options:
- Full refund
- Tickets will be honored for a later screening
- Conversion of the ticket costs to a tax-deductible donation to the Little Theatre
We look forward to welcoming you back through our doors as soon as we safely can. Thank you for your patience and continued support.

About the Film:
A few years from now... Bacurau, a small village in the Brazilian sertão, mourns the loss of its matriarch, Carmelita, who lived to be 94. Days later, its inhabitants (among them Sônia Braga) notice that their village has literally vanished from online maps and a UFO-shaped drone is seen flying overhead. There are forces that want to expel them from their homes, and soon, in a genre-bending twist, a band of armed mercenaries led by Udo Kier arrive in town picking off the inhabitants one by one. A fierce confrontation takes place when the townspeople turn the tables on the villainous outsiders, banding together by any means necessary to protect and maintain their remote community. The mercenaries just may have met their match in the fed-up, resourceful denizens of little Bacurau. Language: English and Portuguese with English subtitles
Bacurau is an official selection of Anomaly — the Rochester Genre Film Festival.
A NOTE FROM THE LITTLE THEATRE
We're fortunate to have such a dedicated, passionate, and smart film community here in the Little Theatre District. Thank you for your support during this unprecedented and unpredictable time — it's truly appreciated. While at the moment you cannot come to us, we'd like to bring The Little experience to you. We are pleased to share the thrilling and daring Brazilian film Bacurau, available to screen here. We at The Little can not thank Kino Lorber enough for providing us with the opportunity to give our audiences a top-notch cinematic experience while we are temporarily closed. This kind of support for art house theaters, along with their audiences, is essential. Your support with this purchase will help The Little remain a destination for the best American independent and international films, along with a spot for music, art, and vital conversation. We look forward to welcoming you back through our doors, but in the meantime, grab your popcorn, a favorite beverage, and enjoy the film.
