About the Film:

It's the story of a small town gorilla, Sylvio, who is stuck in his job at a debt collection agency. Deep down he just wants to express himself with his hand puppet, Herbert Herpels, and his puppet show that highlights the quiet moments of life. He accidentally joins a local TV program and a series of on-air mishaps threaten to shatter his identity, sending him on a journey of self-discovery. Directed by Albert Birney and Kentucker Audley.

History: Sylvio was born on Vine, where he racked up over 500,000 followers and 100 million loops

"A work of gentle whimsy and surprising pathos. Birney and Audley have an impressive visual sense — the smart framing and thrifty, ingenious production design at times suggest a Wes Anderson–directed installment of Between Two Ferns." -Village Voice

“This charming lo-fi indie is attuned to its own eccentric wavelength, equal parts absurd and poignant. A cult following for this bizarro effort seems quite possible." -Variety

Sylvio Special Screening: The film debuts Tuesday, Nov. 7. A Q&A with director, and Rochester native Albert Birney will follow the show. Before the film, The Little will screen Pet Monkey, a short film from Eric Maira and Willworkforfame Films.
