Join WXXI for a FREE screening of the premiere episode of Les Misérables on MASTERPIECE at the Little Theatre (theatre 5, located on Winthrop Street) on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at 11 a.m. before its April television premiere. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. Seats are first come, first served. After the screening at 12:15 p.m. musicians from the Roberts Wesleyan College Department of Music and Performing Arts will perform selections from Les Mis, music from the time of the story, and more in the Little Café.
Victor Hugo’s Les Misérables masterpiece comes to television in a six-part drama adaptation by multi award-winning screenwriter Andrew Davies. Dominic West stars as fugitive Jean Valjean, with David Oyelowo as his pursuer Inspector Javert and Lily Collins as the luckless single mother Fantine. Ellie Bamber and Josh O'Connor costar as the young lovers Cosette and Marius. Academy Award winner Olivia Coleman also stars. Love, death, and the struggle for social justice in early 19th-century France feature in this beautifully faithful retelling of one of the world’s most beloved stories. Les Misérables on MASTERPIECE airs on WXXI-TV Sundays, April 14 - May 19, 2019.
