What do the Little Theater and a group of Rochester artists have in common? Their love of visual art and music and movies. This exhibit is a unique mash-up of visual art and film. The artist’s influences are diverse: Lawrence of Arabia, Hair, A League Of Their Own, 2001: A Space Odyssey, just to name a few. The artist’s favorite film selection, interpretation, process, size limitation and written statement have all contributed to a challenging, stretching and unique experience for the 21 exhibiting ARENA ARTISTS.

What do the Little Theatre and a group of Rochester artists have in common? Their love of visual art and music and movies.

On any given evening the Little Café will be abuzz with patrons that come here for more than movies. Here they will be found enjoying a variety of refreshments and live music amid the art-lined walls. Often those patrons include members of Rochester’s Arena Art Group who, over the last several months, have been creating work inspired by the films that have most impacted them in preparation for an exhibition of their work that will be hosted at the café. This unique mash-up of visual art and film is a first for the Little Café, which prides itself on being the premier cultural center for the presentation of American independent and foreign films as well and visual arts and music. The artist’s influences are diverse: Lawrence of Arabia, Hair, A League Of Their Own, 2001: A Space Odyssey, just to name a few. The artist’s favorite film selection, interpretation, process, size limitation and written statement have all contributed to a challenging, stretching and unique experience for the 21 exhibiting ARENA ARTISTS.

Don’t miss “ARENA @ The Movies. The exhibit will open on June 20th and continue through August 21st. On Sunday, July 12th the exhibiting members and the café will host an opening reception from 3-5 pm. The community is also invited to attend an evening of informal dialogue with the artists on Tuesday July 21st from 7-9 pm.
