Oscar Nominees at The Little

By Scott Pukos

Movie mayhem was unleashed this week as Oscar nominations were announced. You can see the full list of nominated films here. As always, the list includes a lot of current, future, and past Little movies. So, let's break it down.

Best Picture Nominees currently at The Little:

- La La Land - A record-tying 14 nominations
- Fences - Also earned best director and acting nominations
- Lion - Also earned screenplay and acting nominations
- Moonlight - A robust eight nominations, and earned an encore run at The Little starting Jan. 27

Other Oscar films now playing:

- Elle - Featuring Best Actress nominee and Golden Globe winner Isabelle Huppert
- 20th Century Women - Best Original Screenplay

Oscar nominees coming to The Little:

- Oscar Nominated Short Films (Documentary, Live Action, and Animated): Opens Feb. 10
- I Am Not Your Negro (part of The Little's Black Cinema Series) nominated for Best Documentary Feature: Feb. 10
- Toni Erdmann nominated for Best Foreign Language Film: Feb. 17
- The Red Turtle nominated for Best Animated Feature: Feb. 24
- Land of Mine nominated for Best Foreign Language Film: TBD

Not counting the upcoming films, The Little has screened 17 of the 2017 Oscar nominees (by my count). This list includes Manchester By The Sea (which is in our top ten grossing film list since 2013) and a member of our One Take Doc Film series (Life, Animated).

Bonus: We recorded a Little podcast on the Oscar nominations, snubs, etc. It'll be posted by the end of the day Jan. 26. Give it a listen if you're so inclined.
