While covering events at The Little, it's hard not to overhear chatter from people who are walking into the theater. Two of my favorite recent comments have dealt with a Little favorite: Our popcorn.
"You can't come to the building and not get popcorn," said one person while waiting in line to do that very thing.
"They're going to run out of popcorn just from us!" said another person who happened to have multiple large bags of our savory, salty snack.
Popcorn has always been THE movie snack. Sure, there are other great foods, but nothing nearly as iconic as popcorn. It's basically the sidekick to the main feature, and, well, sometimes the sidekick outshines the hero.
I'm clearly biased, but I feel there is something extra special about The Little popcorn. For one, it has its own Twitter account (@_LittlePopcorn), and provides tweets that are salty in the best of ways. Additionally, the popcorn machine has its own name (it's Dorothy, and don't worry this will get explained in a future Little blog post), plus the butter is real and spectacular. I'm a big fan of the flavor powder as well (#TeamWhiteCheddar forever!). It's not uncommon for me to come home smelling like I spent the day swimming in a pool of popcorn, a la Scrooge McDuck and his vault of gold coins.
While popcorn is the king, queen, and every other royal food force, there are still other great movie snacks too (Junior Mints, Kit-Kats, gummy worms, Sour Patch Kids, cookies, poutine). So, here's your turn to step in: What's your favorite theater snack? Send me a note with your pick, then go treat yourself with a movie and that very snack!
