When The Sun Goes Down is an animated short about the Halloween adventure of Yum and Yuk, characters from the popular, Rochester-produced children's series. It will be preceding films in Theaters 1-3 between Friday, October 31 and Thursday, November 6.
It is an accompaniment to the book of the same name, written and illustrated by Rochesterians.
An explosion of color and imagery, the rhyming poem takes the viewer through a wonderfully spooky journey.
Drew Worden, was a student at the Eastman School of Music when he was asked to compose for the poem. The animation is by Matt Spaull, masterfully done while he was a graduate student at RIT’s School of Film & Animation. Five ESM students recorded the music. John Kastner illustrated the book in gouache.
The Yum and Yuk books are produced by Nanette Nocon, John Kastner and Anne C. Coon. They are printed in the US, and for every book sold, another is given to a child in need free of charge.
