The tantalizing aroma hits you as soon as you walk through the doors. You grab your ticket, but you don't head to the theater just yet. This is because the popcorn machine is speaking to you - an alluring call of popping kernels and buttery bliss. This is your day, because it's Sunday, September 23, Art House Theater Day, and your little-sized popcorn is FREE.
It's true: we're offering a free little-sized popcorn per every film ticket to celebrate Art House Theater Day. The worldwide event celebrates art house theaters, and the cultural role they play in a community. It's a time to recognize the year-round contributions of film, filmmakers, patrons, projectionists, staff, and the brick and mortar theaters that are passionately dedicated to providing access to the best cinematic experience. Sept. 23, 2018 marks the third Art House Theater Day.
The spectacular popcorn pairs nicely with The Little's special Art House Theater Day programming. The Interpreters - plus a panel discussion - will screen at 6 p.m. Sunday, September 23. The Interpreters follows Iraqi and Afghan interpreters who worked with United States forces, and who are now targeted by insurgents as a result. While some have reached safety, others are stuck in hiding-and those with no other hope have set out for Europe and the U.S. with the help of smugglers.
A discussion with filmmakers Sofian Khan & Andres Caballero will follow the screening. The Rochester branch of No One Left Behind is a community partner for this special screening.
Fahrenheit 11/9, Life Itself, and The Wife will also screen on Art House Theater Day.
