Art House Theater Day 2017

Great news for film lovers: The second annual Art House Theater Day arrives Sunday, September 24, 2017. Art House Theater Day is a worldwide event that celebrates the legacy of independent theaters as advocates for cinema arts.

The day's Little lineup:

A wolf walks into a cafe and starts to tell a story.... Roald Dahl's much loved Revolting Rhymes brilliantly retell classic fairy tales such as Cinderella and Jack and the Beanstalk with some extremely surprising twists in these two beautiful half hour animations. A treat for families and kids.

3pm: TITICUT FOLLIES with Frederick Wiseman and Wes Anderson
Visit the State Prison for the Criminally Insane at Bridgewater, Mass. with renowned filmmaker Frederick Wiseman in this essential documentary, digitally remastered for its 50th Anniversary. Screening includes never before seen trial footage plus a special pre-recorded conversation between Frederick Wiseman and Wes Anderson just for Art House Theater Day!

6pm: LUCKY - ADVANCE SCREENING (In theaters September 29th)
A 90-year-old atheist (Harry Dean Stanton) has outlived and out-smoked his contemporaries, and as he comes to terms with his own mortality, he searches for ever-elusive enlightenment. Also starring David Lynch and Tom Skerritt.

Columbus is a gorgeous movie directed by first-time feature director Kogonada, and premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January. It stars John Cho, Parker Posey and Haley Lu Richardson, and is a mediation about time and place, and the way physical space informs our emotions. It takes place in the modernist architecture mecca of Columbus, IN, and the buildings in the city are practically a character in the film.
