Electric folk for the 21st century.
Mercy Bell was raised in California and New England. She lived in New York City and Arkansas before finally settling in Nashville. With comparisons to Linda Ronstadt, Patty Griffin, Jenny Lewis, the Dixie Chicks, Brandi Carlile, and Sheryl Crow -- Bell's sound is deeply influenced by traditional roots music, folk and country western songs, and pop music (Bell credits an obsession with Top 40 hitmaker Max Martin for learning how to write a song). As an openly queer Filipino-American woman who has lived all over the United States and grapples with the hard truths of life, Bell offers a fresh and dynamic approach to folk AND pop music.
