A few days ago, we lost not only an immensely talented actor, but also a son of Rochester. The Little Theatre invites the community who loves Philip Seymour Hoffman to help us honor his legacy.
On Wednesday, February 5 and Friday, February 7, we will dedicate a moment of silence before each film to remember and honor Hoffman. This is to coordinate with the Broadway theaters dimming their lights on Wednesday in Hoffman’s honor.
On Wednesday, February 5, the Little’s Facebook and Twitter pages will invite fans of Hoffman to submit suggestions of films they would like to see included in a tribute series that will run from Friday, February 28 until Sunday, March 2. The tribute series will feature six films showcasing Hoffman’s versatile onscreen talents. This weekend-long event will also feature special guests speaking to Hoffman’s personal impact on their lives, as well as his force in cinema.
In a further effort to bring people together to celebrate Hoffman, the Little is currently collecting tweets of memories or tributes using the hashtag #PSHLittle. These will be projected before the films during the series.
Proceeds from this event will go to a charity or nonprofit that is yet to be determined, but will be alligned with Hoffman's character.
