Based in Rochester, Talking Under Water consists of conservatory trained musicians hailing from the Eastman School of Music and the Juilliard School of Music. Their extensive musical training along with the band’s unique instrumentation provide a sublime foundation for the creativity and passion evident in the songs. The rich, vibrant sound produced is evocative of the rich Americana/Blues tradition, but with the band’s own distinctive spin. Songwriter Dave Chisholm explains, “The idea of using sad songs to make listeners feel better is a crucial element of the blues – something that really informs the title track of this EP and really all the music we make.” The music and lyrics in these songs will ring true to fans of The Lumineers, Conor Oberst, and Hozier.
The band has been featured in several publications, including (585) Magazine.
