For over 50 years, A Charlie Brown Christmas has captured the hearts of audiences both young and old. Watching the iconic animated film has become a tradition, passed on from generation to generation, and for many, Christmas is not complete until Charlie Brown has explained the true meaning of the holiday. As recognizable as the round head and yellow polo are, a few notes from pianist Vince Guaraldi’s jazz soundtrack are enough to inspire warm and fuzzy Christmas feelings in even the hardiest Grinch. Years after the show first premiered, a little boy name Karl Stabnau would watch the show for the first time, entranced by the sights and sounds. No one could have known that the magical evening in Rochester, NY would spark a love that would grow to become a highly anticipated tradition in Western NY and beyond.
Now entering its sixth year, A Charlie Brown Christmas with the Karl Stabnau Quartet brings to life the sounds of Guaraldi’s soundtrack. Each musician is a highly sought after soloist with extensive performance credits, yet something magical happens when they take the stage together each Christmas. Karl’s arrangements re-imagine the songs for jazz quartet while remaining true to the original score. Audiences relive Christmas memories with songs that include Skating, Christmas Time Is Here, and Linus and Lucy along with original arrangements of other Christmas and holiday songs.
