About the Film:

The oldest band in the world has been playing every evening at the Peace Hotel in Shanghai for more than 30 years. Most members of the band, all jazz musicians of the first rank, are more than 80 years old.

As Time Goes By in Shanghai tells the story of their existence, from the Japanese occupation to China’s Cultural Revolution, right up to today’s turbo-drive economy. The Little’s One Take: Stories Through the Lens film series is proud to present the film on Tuesday, June 10 at 7:00 p.m., with a Skype Q&A session with director Uli Gaulke to follow! Tickets are only $8.

With humor, wisdom and a tale or two being spun along the way, the men in black suits lead us on a tour of their everyday lives in one of the world’s most modern cities and show us how good old jazz has given them the strength to weather the storms of time.
